Article 4: Membership A. Requirements - Membership in the church is open to anyone who meets all of the following criteria: · affirms a personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ. · demonstrates a willingness to obey the moral teachings and principles found in the Bible. · agrees to live under the beliefs and governing principles of Faith Church as outlined in our philosophy of ministry statement and these bylaws. · demonstrates a willingness to actively support the mission of Faith Church. B. Application. · Individuals seeking to become members of Faith Church are required to take the following steps: · Obtain a packet of information including application for membership from an elder or staff member. · Submit completed application for membership to an elder or staff member. · The request will be reviewed and approved by the elders. · Applications for membership cannot be denied unless they fail to meet the requirements for membership described above. C. Removal from Membership. · Inactive members. Absent members, resident or nonresident, who do not show interest in the church by attendance, support, or communication for a period of one year may be removed from the membership list at the discretion of the elders. · Any member may withdraw from membership in Faith Church - by written notification to the elders. · Disobedient members. If, in the opinion of the elders, a member is not living in harmony with scriptural principles, the member shall be interviewed and counseled by the elders according to Mat. 18:15-17 and Gal. 6:1. The purpose of the interview and counseling shall be the promotion of restoration. If the member chooses to be unrepentant, the member will be removed from membership. Removal will be accomplished upon recommendation from the elder board and by a two-thirds majority vote of the congregation. D. Privileges. Members can vote at congregational meetings and hold office after reaching age eighteen. |
